COSTS- HOW EXPENSIVE IS BELGRADE?

ALCOHOL & FOOD:
Good news for all you alcoholics going to Belgrade next year, alcohol is really cheap. Serbian beer costs about 45 Dinar per litre, that translates to the princely sum of 50 cents (€) or 33p (STG).
There is also good news for all us Food lovers aswell, you can easily get a big meal and drink for less than €9. Here is a review of a restaurant in the Novi Beograd area of Belgrade, which is where the Beogradka arena is located;

Cica's is located in Novi Beograd (New Belgrade). Undoubtedly the best cevape (grilled meat) I have ever had. This is no exaggeration. There are about 8 tables to sit at and a take -out window if you are on the run. Often busy late night after the New Belgraders are coming home from their late night shananigans. Cica's cevape always hit the spot after a late night. It's open 24 hours (0-24) Cevape - The meat and bread are so fresh, and everything is grilled to order. There are large and small portions. The large portion is enourmous. The small portion is rather large and filling. Banjelucki, Sarajevski cevape are on the menu (along with a other grilled delicacies). The price is absolutely unbelievably. One small portion of cevape is 80 Dinars (1.25euros). A large portion is 120 to170 dinars (1.80euros - 2.50 euros)

And here's another review, this time from a fast food restaurant;

DoJaja, is a sandwich shop that offers many different sandwiches from their menu. You can also make your own. In a place, where grilled meat rules, it's refreshing to grab a healthy and light meal. Belgrade's answer to Subway. Chicken, Fish, Ham, Vegetarian, Hot, Spicy, Mild, ligh, tuna. The variety goes on and on. The customer can create their own sandwich, choosing the bread, meats, vegetables, sauce etc. Cost: 45 Dinars+ for a sandwich (€0.50) p.s. Like the French, hard boiled eggs are found in most sandwiches, whether you want it or not.

and another review, on a food kiosk;

Plato Gryos is a Kiosk selling really fantastic Gyros. Open late, very popular with students. Really large portions. Gyros for only about €1. Next to kiosk is an Internet cafe. On the other side is the Plato Pub/cafe (with crazy red cloth chairs that are hard to get out of) Also a few doors down is Plato bookstore (anyone see a trend here) Gyros that are HUGE and so good. Really good after spending a hour or two in the bookstore next door or After strolling Knez Mihailova street.

oh go on then, just one more;

PINK is a FABULOUS restaurant I recently discovered by chance! It's quite far from the center, but if you've got a car, it's just a step away. It has a very pleasant interior, nicely decorated, and lots of tables in different rooms (it's made inside the house). The terrace is very beautiful and behind is a garden with trees in bloom now that it's spring! THe music is fantastic and the staff is very kind, and let's not mention the prices! We paid a lunch for 6 people with starters, several drinks, soup, main course and dessert €38 ALL TOGETHER!!! FOR SIX PEOPLE!!! And the food was EXTRA good! And the portions for 3 (yes, not even for 2, but for 3! You get really HUGE plates!!) You can also have your food packed up and take home (there is no way you'd be finishing your portion!!!) They are way bigger than they seem on the photo! Besides Serbian dishes you can also have some Italian and international ones, like pizza, spaghetti, gulash, etc. But I strongly recommend local cuisine! Also, it gets very packed, it was FULL when we were there, it was necessary to wait up in a que for a place (that speaks enough how GOOD it is!!!) I had stuffed vešalica (meat) "VUK" - it's rolled and inside there are prickles, ham, mushrooms and cheese (the one that stretches when it's melted).

HOTELS:

As you can read in our hotel section there is a lot of choice as regards 3 and 4 star hotel accomodation. As for the prices, well, they stand up quite well you can get accomodation ranging from €15, all the way to €250. If you don't mind sharing dorms in hostels then you could find yourself only paying €9 for a night, if not then private rooms are available for €15-€18. The norm though is 3 star accomodation which averages at about €40-€50.
